About the WWU DACA Grant Plan
The DACA Grant Plan provides qualified DACA recipients with $23,600 in scholarships and match grants from Walla Walla University, along with a clear plan to help cover remaining costs.
To qualify for the plan, a new student:
- Must also qualify for a WWU merit scholarship
- First-time freshmen: High school GPA of at least 3.0, or an ACT test score of at least 23, or an SAT test score of at least 1150.
- Transfers: College GPA of at least 3.0 (based on 12 or more college credits).
- Will enroll full time at WWU fall 2023 or later.
- Must have a U.S. Social Security card so that they may work while attending WWU.
- Washington state residents must complete the Washington Application for Student Financial Aid (WASFA).
The DACA Grant Plan combines significant WWU scholarships and grants with a guaranteed work program for the student. Students are expected to apply at least $4,000 of work earnings each academic year towards their WWU bill.
A student who is a Washington state resident may also receive up to $11,995 in additional Washington State Need Grant funding, based on eligibility as determined from what is reported on the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).
The plan may also include a church match program, generous donor gifts, and other types of financial aid. A dedicated financial aid counselor will work with students and their families to activate an individualized plan.
DACA Grant Plan funding will be available to DACA recipients for fall, winter, and spring quarters for up to 16 credits per quarter. It may be renewed for up to 12 academic quarters (equivalent of four years) if the student remains enrolled at WWU.

If you are currently a DACA recipient
DACA recipients are able to renew their DACA status and employment authorization document every two years. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services strongly recommends that DACA renewals be submitted between 120-150 days before the expiration date listed on Form 1797 DACA approval notice and Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Please consult with a qualified attorney for assistance.
If you are not currently a DACA recipient
Our WWU family includes students from all backgrounds, including undocumented students. Students whose immigration status do not permit them to file for federal or state financial aid should explore their financial aid options with Student Financial Services, (800) 656-2315.
